The New BlackBerry® Bold™

The "T-Mobile myTouch 3G with " will be a touch-screen phone and will lack the physical keyboard of the T-Mobile G1, the first phone that used Google Inc.'s Android .
The G1 went on sale in October. T-Mobile has sold more than 1 million of the phones.
Google is giving away the software, because the company's goal is to make Android the basis for phones across the industry, stimulating the use of its Web services on mobile devices.
Google is getting some traction. Verizon Wireless has said it will bring out an Android phone "in the near future." Motorola Corp. is betting big on Android, and aims to have its first products out late this year.
But phones are facing strong competition. BlackBerrys from Research In Motion Ltd. are gaining ground among consumers. Apple Inc. launched a new iPhone model Friday and said that it sold more than a million units in the first three days. The Pre from Inc. has gotten favorable reviews.
The myTouch looks much like an iPhone and has many of the same features, including a similarly sized screen. It will cost $199 with a two-year contract. It will ship with software that allows it to connect to corporate e-mail servers. Such software became available for download to the G1 some months after it launched.
Cole Brodman, T-Mobile USA's chief technology officer, said the new phone should appeal to a much wider audience than the G1.
"We believe a lot of this market will come from people who are moving into the smart phone space for the first time," Brodman said. G1 buyers "were much more of a tech-enthusiast, early adopter-type crowd."
G1 owners will likely not be eligible for the subsidized $199 price for the myTouch, because the G1 came out so recently that T-Mobile has yet to recoup its subsidy through service fees. Many 3G owners are facing the same conundrum, as AT&T will not subsidize the newly released upgraded model until subscribers have "paid off" the subsidy.
Both the G1 and the myTouch are made by HTC Corp. of Taiwan, which cut its teeth making Windows Mobile-based smart phones.

Stealth WPC-500F waterproof computer

We all know that electrical devices and water don’t make good friends, as whenever they meet, there tends to be flare ups as well as a possible explosive “argument” since both parties aren’t able to see eye-to-eye. Well, computers do fall under the electrical devices category, which is why the WPC-500F from Stealth Computer is different from the rest. After all, their WPC-500F is an industrial rugged machine that is waterproof, coming in a small footprint that does away with built-in fans to keep things cool. It is tough enough to operate in situations where regular computer hardware would have long ago given up the ghost. Definitely worth considering if you want something different in your home, as how many of your mates own a waterproof computer?
According to Stealth Computer, the WPC-500F offers the most environmental protection of any PC to date from the company, where it was specially created to completely sealed on all half dozen sides despite operating in the harshest of environments. This 100% water-tight computing machine is able to handle virtually anything thrown at it, including liquids, chemicals, dust and dirt intrusion, as it meets IP67/NEMA 6 environmental specifications. The internal processor will remain cool without the help of any cooling fans since it relies on advanced heat pipe technology. In addition, the rugged aluminum chassis also doubles up as a heat sink to dissipate internal heat and provide noise free operation.
Just in case you were wondering how small the WPC-500F is, it measures a mere 7.51″ x 11.37″ x 2.97″, and despite being this small, it is somewhat like one of those tiny breed dogs that tend to boast a superior bite compared to larger breeds. In fact, the WPC-500F is powered by the latest Atom processor from Intel, helping it surpass the performance of most other industrial and embedded PCs available today in the market. Prices start from $1,995 upwards when the WPC-500F hits the market later this July, and will go upwards according to the specifications you throw inside.

Hyundai MB 910 Wristwatch Phone

Hyundai are more known for cars and have surprised us by launching the MB-910. The MB-910 is a wristwatch phone that is tri-band and actually looks quite good.
The tri-band watch works on GSM/GPRS networks and is capable of 3 hours of talk time. 70 hours of standby are achievable and it has polyphonic ringtones. No video calls can be done though. The screen is touchscreen and has 132 x 176 pixels which show SMS and MMS messages. As well as showing messages and called ID the screen is capable of showing video too. The watch phone measures 58 x 44 x 16 mm and is less then 60 grams in weight. Bluetooth is built in allowing it to pair with a BT headset if needed (recommended in my opinion).
The phone will be launched in the next few months and will have a price tag of £200

12 things you should know about Nokia's N97

Nokia has announced its new flagship mobile, the N97. Stung by the rise of the iPhone and the hype around the Android-powered T-Mobile G1, Nokia is pulling out all the stops to stay in the game. Here's your essential, one-stop guide to the new handset.
1. The N97 has a 5 megapixel camera phone with a Carl Zeiss Tessar lens. Compared to the iPhone's paltry 2 megapixel, that's a whole lot more impressive, though not peerless. And there's a dual LED flash, too – you really will be able to take proper pictures with this thing.
2. The 3.5-inch widescreen is fully touch compatible, though isn't multi-touch like the iPhone's. It's a bit of a shame, but Apple really patented up the iPhone, so it's no wonder. The N97 will also impressively shoot 16:9 video. If you really need to...
3. According to early reports, the pull-out QWERTY keyboard is good to use and is quick, and there's also the magic of cut and paste which, of course, the iPhone doesn't have.
4. Like other Nokia GPS-enabled mobiles, there's the ability to do turn-by-turn directions but with a twist - the N97 has a built-in compass like the T-Mobile G1 but unlike the iPhone.
5. Like Apple's OS X-powered version, the Nokia's home screen is fully customisable and you can move widget icons around with your finger. You can also flick though your photos, like on the iPhone. Even old people can do that.
6. There's a whopping 32GB of internal storage for music, photos, video and more. There's also space for another 16GB via the Micro SD slot. 48GB on a mobile (expect 64GB to come next from Apple, then).
7. Nokia has quoted a price of $550 before network subsidies – expect it to cost a fair amount even with a contract in the UK, at least at first.
8. Nokia is also making the most from the N97's battery life. It promises the new handset will "kick out up to 37 hours of music and 4.5 hours of video." The batteries are also fully interchangeable.
9. The new phone has been ergonomically designed and it's definitely smoother than many previous Nokia mobiles – a clear iPhone influence.
10. The N97 runs the 5th Edition of Symbian's S60 operating system – now fully touch compatible. Symbian is now fully-controlled by Nokia, so expect even tighter integration between the OS and hardware in future.
11. Connectivity goes the whole hog, with HSDPA, Wi-Fi, USB 2.0, stereo Bluetooth and a 3.5mm headphone jack (and the GPS, of course).
12. The N97 will be out towards the middle of next year. Nokia says the phone is an "evolutionary milestone for Nseries and mobilekind," also adding that the N97 isn't a device that will trigger knee-jerk hysteria." Ouch, Mr Jobs. Ouch.

Project Capuchin in six phone series

The addressable market for developers creating Project Capuchin applications is increasing as Sony Ericsson now offers six phone models supporting the Project Capuchin API – the new C510, W508 and W715 join the previously announced C905 Cyber-shot, W705 Walkman and G705 phones.

Sony Ericsson's Project Capuchin allows developers to combine the richness of both Java ME and Flash Lite by encapsulating Flash Lite content in Java ME applications making content created by Adobe Flash technology appear as Java ME applications.
The Project Capuchin API and the Swf2Jar tool make it possible to use Flash Lite as the presentation layer and Java ME as the application logic, meaning that Flash tools can be used for UI design while still having access to all the phone services available to Java ME.
