Apple iPod Nano (5th generation)

Apple's revamped Nano has video recording, FM radio and an integrated speaker

The fifth-generation Apple iPod Nano retains the same elongated body as its predecessor, but adds several longed-for and unexpected features. The inability to take still photos is a tad perplexing, but the addition of an integrated speaker, video recording and an FM radio receiver make it the most capable and best value iPod Nano so far.
Apple has made few aesthetic changes to the iPod Nano. You will no longer be able to tell the Nano's capacity as Apple has removed the label. The biggest change to the MP3 player's case is the aluminium finish, which gives the MP3 player (available in nine colours) a glossy sheen. It makes the Nano somewhat more attractive, though only subtly so.
What lies within the casing has changed significantly. For starters, Apple has integrated a speaker. The speaker, curiously an unadvertised feature, is a fantastic addition that will allow you to share music or videos with friends (albeit at poor quality).
Like iPhone 3GS, the new iPod Nano features video recording. You won't be able to take still photos (an omission Apple blames on the difference in size between a sensor capable of recording VGA resolution footage and a 2- or 3-megapixel sensor). However, you will be able to shoot VGA-quality (640x480 pixels) video at 30 frames per second in the H.264 format. A one minute video took up 19MB of space during testing, which means you will be able to store around 860 minutes of video on a 16GB iPod Nano.
The sensor is located in the bottom right of the iPod Nano's back casing, which could make it easy to accidentally obscure when filming in portrait mode. Like Apple's Photo Booth software, you can use a range of filters and video effects when filming. Many filters, like "Cyborg," are gimmicky at best but others like "Film Grain" and "Security Cam" do help to mask any pixilation. The iPod Nano's accelerometer determines whether you're filming in portrait or landscape modes and shifts the video accordingly. However, videos filmed in landscape will play in a 4:3 aspect ratio once exported, whereas portrait videos play in the elongated 9:16 aspect ratio that suits the iPod Nano's unconventional display.

The camera's resolution means the iPod Nano can't compete with 720p-capable video recorders like the Kodak Zx1 and Flip UltraHD. As such, you wouldn't keep it on hand to shoot any serious video or film in low-light situations, but as an extra feature for the Nano the video camera's quality certainly isn't displeasing.

Apple has also added an FM receiver to the iPod Nano; it's a feature many users have been asking for. Since the iPod Nano uses headphone wiring as an antenna, you won't be able to use the integrated speaker. Quality isn't fantastic, even for FM radio. We experienced several pauses and breaks in reception during use. This could be improved by using better quality headphones.
One interesting feature is Live Pause, which allows you to pause or rewind a radio broadcast to any point in the last 15 minutes. The iPod Nano begins buffering radio as soon as you tune into a station and will delete the buffer if you change to another station or turn the radio off. A second unconventional feature, iTunes Tagging, theoretically allows you to tag any song played on the radio so you don't forget. However, this feature is currently only available in the US due to technical requirements on the station's end.

Other hardware improvements include an integrated pedometer which can be used to track your fitness using the Nike + iPod Sports Kit. Apple has employed a headphone port on the iPod Nano, so the MP3 player now supports the company's proprietary in-line remote control. This can be used to control music playback and volume and initiate the Nano's newly gained VoiceOver feature, which speaks the name of the song playing through the headphones. Unfortunately, Apple only bundles standard earphones with the iPod Nano; the in-line remote control must be purchased separately.
The iPod Nano's user interface will be familiar to anyone who has owned or used a previous generation Nano or iPod Classic. Syncing is a familiar experience, though the options have been expanded to separate iTunes U (university lectures and podcasts) from other podcasts, and you can sync contacts and calendars with iTunes and supported external applications. iTunes won't sync videos recorded on the iPod Nano, however; these must be exported by navigating to the Nano's "DCIM" folder on the computer.
iTunes' Genius recommendations feature has been ported to the iPod Nano in the form of Genius Mixes. The feature automatically creates a playlist of songs based on similar genres and musical styles. This can be initiated from the iPod Nano itself or you can drag existing Genius playlists from iTunes to the iPod. You must first send your music library information to Apple servers (anonymously), but provided you aren't concerned about potential privacy issues Genius is a great way to mix up your listening experience.

Dell's Latest Laptop

The Precision M6300

When it comes to mobile computing systems few companies are able to claim families of products so successful as Dell which just announced the 10th anniversary of the Precision lineup and the company decided to launch a special edition laptop just for this occasion. The Precision M6300 notebook is here now to replace the older Precision M90 model and it is aimed at the business market. From the outside the new Dell laptop, the Precision M6300, features a "Road Ready" chassis design based on a magnesium alloy casing which allowed the manufacturing company to reduce the total weight of the laptop. On the hardware department, the Precision M6300 is based on Intel's mobile computing platform, the Santa Rosa. As a central processing unit the M6300 comes equipped with
google_protectAndRun("ads_core.google_render_ad", google_handleError, google_render_ad);
an Intel Core 2 Duo X7900 CPU which has a standard running frequency of 2.8GHz as well as a frontside bus speed of 800MHz. Just like most other notebooks based on the Intel Santa Rosa platform, the new Dell comes with a maximum of 4GB DDR2 of random access memory which is fully supported thanks to the 36-bit addressing system, even for 32-bit operating systems. The M6300 comes with a discrete graphics card based on the Nvidia Quadro FX 1600M graphics processing units which has 256MB of dedicated video memory and can additionally share 256MB because of the implemented TurboCache technology. The Precision M6300 notebook comes with two native widescreen resolutions, the WXGA+ (1440x900) and the WUXGA (1920x1200), as well as an anti-glare special coating and the TrueLife technology. While now LED backlighting is not yet available, Dell representatives are certain that this option will appear later. Storage options are rich for the Dell Precision M6300 as the laptop comes with a wide selection of hard disk drives up to 200GB and 7200rpm as well as an encrypted HDD with 120GB of storage space. As an option, a SanDisk made solid state drive of 32GB is also available as are a wide range of optical drives including DVD and Blu-ray burners.Wireless networking is of course present in the form of an 802.11a/g/n compatible chip made by either Dell or Intel; also present are six high speed USB ports as well as FireWire, Bluetooth and a multi format card reader. As the precision M6300 is intended as a business laptop, Dell also included a number of security features like an optional UPEK fingerprint reader. "Customers buy workstations because they need maximum performance to get a job done," said Dell Product Group VP Vivek Mohindra. "The M6300 is ideal for customers who want to run demanding professional applications no matter where they are."

EU Looking at Reports of Exploding iPhones and iPods

The European Commission is investigating reports of exploding iPhones and iPods, with three recent cases adding to concerns. A French teen was reportedly injured by his girlfriend's exploding iPhone. Several car fires have been blamed on the popular devices from Apple, Inc. Apple said it's waiting to receive the units from customers. The European Commission is looking into reports of overheated Apple iPhones and iPods causing damages. It has asked Apple to provide information on possible dangers from its popular products.
Three recent cases have come to the EC's attention from the 27 countries in the European Union. Two are from France and one is from the United Kingdom. Earlier reports of combustion have come from the Netherlands and Sweden.
"At the end of last week, we asked Apple and the member states where the incidents occurred to provide us with information on the matter," said European Commission spokesperson Ton Van Lierop.
The French daily Les Echols reported a French teen was injured when his girlfriend's iPhone shattered after it began to "crackle and pop like a deep fryer." Pieces of the screen reportedly hit Romain Kolega in the eye.
A similar report involved an iPod in Marseilles, and in the U.K. an overheated iPod touch reportedly jumped into the air and exploded. In addition, a Dutch iPhone owner reported that his device caught fire and damaged his car. An iPod also reportedly caused another car fire in Sweden.
While the EU investigates dangerous products, only the member states can order recalls. Apple said it will investigate.
"We are aware of these reports and we are waiting to receive the units from the customers. Until we have the full details, we don't have anything further to add," Apple said.
In January, Japan ordered Apple to investigate reports of sparks and fires from iPod nanos. In June, Apple recalled first-generation iPod nanos in South Korea after problems with the batteries.

Sony Ericsson Jalou

The Sony Ericsson Jalou is a very distinctive looking and lightweight fashion phone, due to hit the shops in time for Christmas.

Sony Ericsson describe the Jalou's shape as a "facet cut jewel form" and although the look is reminiscent of the Nokia 7070 Prism, the Jalou is a much more sophisticated handset.

The "Jalou" and "BeJoo" are two different names for the same device - the phone will be called the "Jalou" worldwide except for France where the "BeJoo" name will be used. The reason? Well, according to Sony Ericsson the "Jalou" name is too close to the French word for "Jealous", which goes to show that giving products a name rather than a number can be fraught with danger*.

In addition to the standard version of the Jalou, there is also a Dolce & Gabbana variant with gold plating, a rose colouring and exclusive D&G content. Alternatively the standard (and presumably cheaper) Jalou comes in "Deep Amethyst", "Aquamarine Blue" and "Onyx Black" colour combinations.

The diamond shape is not the only thing that gives the Jalou a distinctive look - it's also a lot less tall than most clamshell phones, measuring just 73 x 45 x 18mm when closed. Sony Ericsson have gone for this unusual size to make the phone as compact as possible, so it should fit it into the tiniest bag or jacket pocket. The Jalou is also very lightweight, coming in at just 84 grams.

So, what does the Jalou actually do from a technical perspective? Well, it's a fairly standard 3G phone with a 2" 240 x 320 pixel display, a 3.2 megapixel camera, microSD expandable memory, stereo Bluetooth and a multimedia player. There's a semi-concealed external display underneath the glossy casing, and you can also use the Jalou as a mirror to check just how gorgeous you are looking.

In Europe, the Jalou will support 2100 MHz UMTS plus HSDPA downloads, there will also be a US version which supports 900 and 1700 MHz UMTS and has the very useful addition of built-in GPS. We don't know why there's no GPS in the European version.. that would have been a pretty cool thing to have in a fashion phone. But, in other words.. the Jalou's beauty is not just skin deep.

It's an unashamedly girlie phone - some of the applications on the Jalou include a step counter, zodiac application and of course all the usual features such as a web browser and email client, plus a media player and FM radio. The display might be a little small for web browsing, but the inclusion of 3.5G data does at least mean that it will be quite fast.

There's no word on pricing, our best guess is that the standard Jalou will retail for about €400 SIM-free. Sony Ericsson say that both the standard and the D&G version should be available during Q4 2009.

Cisco Mobile Wireless Transport Manager Release 5.0.1

The Cisco Mobile Wireless Transport Manager (MWTM) is a network management software product that network administrators use to discover, manage, and troubleshoot networks that include Cisco Radio Access Network Optimization (RAN-O) devices, such as the Cisco Mobile Wireless Router (MWR).
In Release 5.0.1, MWTM provides bug fixes ("Resolved Caveats" section) and new features ("What's New in MWTM R5.0.1" section).

What's New in MWTM R5.0.1

Support for MWR mini-aggregation node for Global System for Mobile (GSM)
The initial configuration that the MWTM supports included two MWRs, one at the cell site, and one at the Base Station Controller (BSC) or Radio Network Controller (RNC) site. These MWRs were connected back to back over a Multilink Point-to-point (MLPPP) backhaul connection to support GSM and Universal Mobile Telecommunications System (UMTS) communications.

Support is now added for aggregating the backhaul connections from two cell-site MWRs to one MWR (called the mini-aggregation node) at the BSC site. The MWTM supports this GSM-only configuration and accurately reports on link statistics.

Support for fractional T1/E1 on shorthaul and backhaul
The MWTM provides support for fractional T1/E1 services through the allocation of time slots on shorthaul and backhaul connections.

Support for UMTS-only configuration
The UMTS-only configuration accommodates only UMTS traffic (no GSM traffic). The RAN-O device receives the UMTS traffic over Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM) Private Virtual Channels (PVCs) and carries that traffic over the MLPPP backhaul connection.

Support for configurations that use:
•PVC routing
•High-speed Downlink Packet Access (HSDPA)
•Inverse Multiplexing over ATM (IMA)
The PVC routing configuration uses the MLPPP backhaul to carry GSM and UMTS traffic and a second backhaul over the Fast Ethernet (FE) interface to carry only UMTS traffic. PVC routing refers to PVCs on a single UMTS interface that are split between the two backhaul interfaces.

A second variation of the PVC topology uses HSDPA. In this UMTS-only topology, the traffic flows between the RAN-O devices over the FE backhaul connection while using the serial interface (MLPPP backhaul) only for line clocking. This topology is for those vendors who want to run only UMTS traffic in their networks.

A third variation of the PVC topology uses IMA to aggregate shorthaul ATM interfaces into a logical group or bundle. This topology is for those vendors who want to provide redundancy and load balancing for shorthaul UMTS traffic. The IMA technology can be deployed in UMTS-only or mixed GSM and UMTS configurations.

The MWTM accurately reports statistics for PVCs that are routed over the MLPPP backhaul or the FE backhaul connections.

Graphical User Interface (GUI) enhancements
Shorthaul Performance and Backhaul Performance tabs moved from the Node Details Window to the Interface Details Window. To view real-time utilization statistics for an interface, left-click the interface under a node in the MWTM tree (left pane) of the main window. Then click the appropriate tab for the statistics that you want to view.

Wireless Media Keyboard from Cideko

Last week, we reported on the E-LEAD Bluetooth Lazy Pad, a wireless device that uses Bluetooth for a combination keyboard and mouse. This year’s Computex was the stage for the unveiling of the Cideko Wireless Media Keyboard.
These two products are somewhat similar, but the Lazy Pad uses its patent dynamic mouse, while the Cideko functions as a mouse in mid-air, like that one from Logitech. I’m not certain if the one from Cideko uses Bluetooth, but there has got to be some wireless action going on with its USB key.
On the top of the Wireless Media Keyboard are two buttons that serve as the left and right mouse buttons. In addition to the full QWERTY keyboard, it has a row of keys that serve as media control keys.
Yeah, we have seen devices like the Cideko Wireless Media Keyboard before, and I would like to bring up an important issue with these mini-QWERTY keyboards: how exactly do you type on them?
I mean, I have a mobile phone with a QWERTY, and I use two thumbs to type with it: the left thumb for the left side of the keyboard, then the right thumb for the right. If there is some proper mini-QWERTY keyboard procedure, I would like to know, because my other eight fingers are going to waste.

Howlets - Optimised Audio Codecs for Soft-switches

Howler has developed a suite of codec implementations called 'Howlets', that are highly optimised fo modern processors. We've applied our knolwedge of writing and optimising software for parallel processors such as the cell, to commodity CPUs from Intel and AMD.

After successfully porting the codec used by Caraya (our Cell-based product) to these general purpose processors, we found them to be substantially more performant than competing offerings when embedded in popular spft-Switches. As well as substantially improved scalability. Our embedded and distributed license manager allows for flexible licensing options, including our unique Floating License which allow you to pool channel licenses across several servers on a network segment.

Our first release delivers a high-performance G.729A implementation targetting Asterisk(R) abd FreeSWITCH, and ships as a drop-in binary module for ease of deployment.

G.729 is an industy-standard, Low Bit-rate codec (LBR), used in the majority of popular VoIP handsets and by many VoIP providers. G.279 uses significantly less bandwidth than the industry standard G.711 audio codec but maintains a high degree of audio fidelity, being designed for imperfect networks such as the Internet and WANs.

Benefits

Add transcoding capability to your network.
Allow your business to transcode audio to and from G.729. Many business-class IP telephones and VoIP gateways include support for G.729. With our G.729 Howlet, your Asterisk and Freeswitch servers can now process G.729 calls more cost-effectively than ever before.

Increase your revenue
Adding transcoding capability to your network allows you to take on VoIP traffic from sources you previously weren’t able to. Our Howlet performance, pricing and flexible licensing means we can offer you the best possible price/performance codec product in the market.

Over 230 G.729 channels per dual-core processor

BlackBerry Curve 8520

RIM, after launching the BlackBerry Curve 8520 in U.S. and Canada, has bought the device into India. Bolstering the Curve line-up, The 8520 is an affordable, feature packed alternative to the more expensive BlackBerry Curve 8900 that was launched not long ago.

The BlackBerry Curve 8520 is the first device to sport the new "innovative" (as RIM puts it!) touch-sensitive trackpad. Also new is the addition of a dedicated multimedia key. In fact, this phone might just go down in to the annals of history as the first device where RIM's transition from being a purely business oriented phone maker to more of a mass market player has come to light. Its multimedia intentions are evident from the presence of a 3.5mm jack and support for iTunes and Windows MediaPlayer.RIM has tied up with Airtel to offer the Curve in India. There is a new prepaid BlackBerry service plan from Airtel, for a monthly rate of Rs. 299. The device is also targeted at a virtually untapped segment of young professionals and retail consumers who have been inching to get their hands on to a BlackBerry device but were intimidated my the pricing of the earlier models. As for the features, the 8520 comes with a standard full-QWERTY and Wi-Fi support. It is quite light weight as well, tipping the scales at just 106 grams. The phone comes with 256MB Flash memory and a sports a decent 512Mhz CPU. It supports memory expansion hot swappable microSD/SDHC cards and supports cards of up to 16 GB. The screen is a 2.4 inch one with 65k colors, which certainly is a step backwards with most of its contemporaries sporting better screens. There is nothing much to talk on the camera front. The 8520 comes with a decent 2 megapixel camera with support for video recording. The battery is a decent 1150 mAhr one good for up to 4.5 hours of talk time and 17 days of standby time. Airtel customers can sms 'BB' to 543210 to register to purchase the BlackBerry Curve 8520 and to get more information about the plans offered with the smartphone. The BlackBerry Curve 8520 will be available nationally from Airtel's authorised outlets through Bharti Teletech across India from Aug. 7. It is priced at Rs.15,990, which, for a new BlackBerry, is affordable!

The New BlackBerry® Bold™

The "T-Mobile myTouch 3G with " will be a touch-screen phone and will lack the physical keyboard of the T-Mobile G1, the first phone that used Google Inc.'s Android .
The G1 went on sale in October. T-Mobile has sold more than 1 million of the phones.
Google is giving away the software, because the company's goal is to make Android the basis for phones across the industry, stimulating the use of its Web services on mobile devices.
Google is getting some traction. Verizon Wireless has said it will bring out an Android phone "in the near future." Motorola Corp. is betting big on Android, and aims to have its first products out late this year.
But phones are facing strong competition. BlackBerrys from Research In Motion Ltd. are gaining ground among consumers. Apple Inc. launched a new iPhone model Friday and said that it sold more than a million units in the first three days. The Pre from Inc. has gotten favorable reviews.
The myTouch looks much like an iPhone and has many of the same features, including a similarly sized screen. It will cost $199 with a two-year contract. It will ship with software that allows it to connect to corporate e-mail servers. Such software became available for download to the G1 some months after it launched.
Cole Brodman, T-Mobile USA's chief technology officer, said the new phone should appeal to a much wider audience than the G1.
"We believe a lot of this market will come from people who are moving into the smart phone space for the first time," Brodman said. G1 buyers "were much more of a tech-enthusiast, early adopter-type crowd."
G1 owners will likely not be eligible for the subsidized $199 price for the myTouch, because the G1 came out so recently that T-Mobile has yet to recoup its subsidy through service fees. Many 3G owners are facing the same conundrum, as AT&T will not subsidize the newly released upgraded model until subscribers have "paid off" the subsidy.
Both the G1 and the myTouch are made by HTC Corp. of Taiwan, which cut its teeth making Windows Mobile-based smart phones.

Stealth WPC-500F waterproof computer

We all know that electrical devices and water don’t make good friends, as whenever they meet, there tends to be flare ups as well as a possible explosive “argument” since both parties aren’t able to see eye-to-eye. Well, computers do fall under the electrical devices category, which is why the WPC-500F from Stealth Computer is different from the rest. After all, their WPC-500F is an industrial rugged machine that is waterproof, coming in a small footprint that does away with built-in fans to keep things cool. It is tough enough to operate in situations where regular computer hardware would have long ago given up the ghost. Definitely worth considering if you want something different in your home, as how many of your mates own a waterproof computer?
According to Stealth Computer, the WPC-500F offers the most environmental protection of any PC to date from the company, where it was specially created to completely sealed on all half dozen sides despite operating in the harshest of environments. This 100% water-tight computing machine is able to handle virtually anything thrown at it, including liquids, chemicals, dust and dirt intrusion, as it meets IP67/NEMA 6 environmental specifications. The internal processor will remain cool without the help of any cooling fans since it relies on advanced heat pipe technology. In addition, the rugged aluminum chassis also doubles up as a heat sink to dissipate internal heat and provide noise free operation.
Just in case you were wondering how small the WPC-500F is, it measures a mere 7.51″ x 11.37″ x 2.97″, and despite being this small, it is somewhat like one of those tiny breed dogs that tend to boast a superior bite compared to larger breeds. In fact, the WPC-500F is powered by the latest Atom processor from Intel, helping it surpass the performance of most other industrial and embedded PCs available today in the market. Prices start from $1,995 upwards when the WPC-500F hits the market later this July, and will go upwards according to the specifications you throw inside.

Hyundai MB 910 Wristwatch Phone

Hyundai are more known for cars and have surprised us by launching the MB-910. The MB-910 is a wristwatch phone that is tri-band and actually looks quite good.
The tri-band watch works on GSM/GPRS networks and is capable of 3 hours of talk time. 70 hours of standby are achievable and it has polyphonic ringtones. No video calls can be done though. The screen is touchscreen and has 132 x 176 pixels which show SMS and MMS messages. As well as showing messages and called ID the screen is capable of showing video too. The watch phone measures 58 x 44 x 16 mm and is less then 60 grams in weight. Bluetooth is built in allowing it to pair with a BT headset if needed (recommended in my opinion).
The phone will be launched in the next few months and will have a price tag of £200

12 things you should know about Nokia's N97

Nokia has announced its new flagship mobile, the N97. Stung by the rise of the iPhone and the hype around the Android-powered T-Mobile G1, Nokia is pulling out all the stops to stay in the game. Here's your essential, one-stop guide to the new handset.
1. The N97 has a 5 megapixel camera phone with a Carl Zeiss Tessar lens. Compared to the iPhone's paltry 2 megapixel, that's a whole lot more impressive, though not peerless. And there's a dual LED flash, too – you really will be able to take proper pictures with this thing.
2. The 3.5-inch widescreen is fully touch compatible, though isn't multi-touch like the iPhone's. It's a bit of a shame, but Apple really patented up the iPhone, so it's no wonder. The N97 will also impressively shoot 16:9 video. If you really need to...
3. According to early reports, the pull-out QWERTY keyboard is good to use and is quick, and there's also the magic of cut and paste which, of course, the iPhone doesn't have.
4. Like other Nokia GPS-enabled mobiles, there's the ability to do turn-by-turn directions but with a twist - the N97 has a built-in compass like the T-Mobile G1 but unlike the iPhone.
5. Like Apple's OS X-powered version, the Nokia's home screen is fully customisable and you can move widget icons around with your finger. You can also flick though your photos, like on the iPhone. Even old people can do that.
6. There's a whopping 32GB of internal storage for music, photos, video and more. There's also space for another 16GB via the Micro SD slot. 48GB on a mobile (expect 64GB to come next from Apple, then).
7. Nokia has quoted a price of $550 before network subsidies – expect it to cost a fair amount even with a contract in the UK, at least at first.
8. Nokia is also making the most from the N97's battery life. It promises the new handset will "kick out up to 37 hours of music and 4.5 hours of video." The batteries are also fully interchangeable.
9. The new phone has been ergonomically designed and it's definitely smoother than many previous Nokia mobiles – a clear iPhone influence.
10. The N97 runs the 5th Edition of Symbian's S60 operating system – now fully touch compatible. Symbian is now fully-controlled by Nokia, so expect even tighter integration between the OS and hardware in future.
11. Connectivity goes the whole hog, with HSDPA, Wi-Fi, USB 2.0, stereo Bluetooth and a 3.5mm headphone jack (and the GPS, of course).
12. The N97 will be out towards the middle of next year. Nokia says the phone is an "evolutionary milestone for Nseries and mobilekind," also adding that the N97 isn't a device that will trigger knee-jerk hysteria." Ouch, Mr Jobs. Ouch.

Project Capuchin in six phone series

The addressable market for developers creating Project Capuchin applications is increasing as Sony Ericsson now offers six phone models supporting the Project Capuchin API – the new C510, W508 and W715 join the previously announced C905 Cyber-shot, W705 Walkman and G705 phones.

Sony Ericsson's Project Capuchin allows developers to combine the richness of both Java ME and Flash Lite by encapsulating Flash Lite content in Java ME applications making content created by Adobe Flash technology appear as Java ME applications.
The Project Capuchin API and the Swf2Jar tool make it possible to use Flash Lite as the presentation layer and Java ME as the application logic, meaning that Flash tools can be used for UI design while still having access to all the phone services available to Java ME.

SONY ERICSSON LAUNCHES XPERIA 2

It seems that the XPERIA line is going to include more handsets than the already famous X1. We have barely got a decent launch date for that smartphone and already people are hunting down spy shots of its successor. In case you are a believer, here is how XPERIA X2 will look,
X2 is a horizontal slider that features a similar interface to the one we have seen shown on the X1 at the 2008 Mobile World Congress. The Windows Vista Mobile OS and it is not the first time I have such futuristic specs on a Sony Ericsson device. Strangely enough, one of the video slides says Windows Mobile 7, but we will leave at that, because this version is more believable. This XPERIA X2 concept is a smartphone with a 3G camera, 2 game buttons, a 3.9 inch widescreen multitouch display and a D-pad.

It also comes with a sliding backpanel that covers a 5.0 megapixel camera with autofocus and a sliding touchscreen keyboard. The concept belongs to Laus Nissen and this version of the X2 seems a little less credible than the first one

THE NEW LG FLATRON-LCD M228WD

The LG Flatron M228WD was spotted recently on many sites so why not we take a look at it ourselves too. The LCD TV is a 22 inch one very similar to the LG M228WA with just a letter difference. The good thing about this one is that it comes with the HDMI port instead of the DVI one with an integrated digital TV tuner.
The LG Flatron M228WD has a resolution of 1680 x 1050, with 300 cd/m2 brightness with 5ms response time. The TV does have a slightly low contrast ratio of 3000:1.
Price is rumored to be around $400 so its not that pricey.
